Nightlife Of The Marsh EP
A 5 track nu-disco ep (23m 41s) — released June 13th 2011 on Ism Records
The Off Key Hat have found their creative home on London's glorious Ism Records label. A label who fearlessly release the best cutting edge music from the finest songwriting talents from around the world.
The Off Key Hat's first EP 'Coming Up Shaking' for Ism was described as a 'total heavyweight package', including remixes by Italian cosmic DJ don Daniele Baldelli, London's Ashley Beedle , Yam Who? & Young Athletes League and NYC's DJ Cosmo.
Each member has been seduced and tickled behind the ears by deranged italo, cosmic disco, 80's new wave, electrofunk and dubstep. Their music reflects their unique visual identity, coming straight at you along a Milan catwalk inspired by the legendary 80's London new romantic club The Blitz and have already attracted a cult following on the live scene.
On the eve of the release of their debut album 'Dangerous Machines' (May 30th) the second TOKH single EP for Ism we felt it was time to expand their sonic bondaries and see what some of our favourite remixers could bring forth.
Linton Brown has remixed Kelis, Crookers and the classic "Take Me Away" by Seamus Haji amongst many others, they all feature in his "Summer Of Lovestep" mix series that have become a staple for Dubstep BBQ's the world over. His remix of 'Burn't Out Beach' is possibly his biggest main room mix so far. Michelle Manetti's vocal delivery is even more majestic on the rich percussive piano stabs and the off-kilter rhythms that have now become a Linton Brown trademark.
With his productions getting regular plays from a wide range of DJ's from Emalkay to the Loose Cannons, plus coverage on the biggest radio stations in the UK including Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss, Rinse and the BBC Asian Network has gained Brown a lot of attention. So much so that Universal Music came knocking and used Brown's track 'Bloodline' for their compilation "Generation Dubstep", described as 'the biggest commercial Dubstep album ever released'.
Seed AKA Luke Holden and Terry Jennings transfrom 'Lairy L'il Junky' into a London backstreet basement which unfolds very visually before your eyes. They are no newcomers to the urban scene, and have worked with a wealth of musical talent from, Akon, Taio Cruz, Shontelle and the Wideboys to up and also with upcoming artists such as, MZ Bratt , McLean. Clare Evers, B-Live and MC Majestic, and Double S. They too have remixed for Universal, Motown, Ministry of sound, 4th And Broadway, Island Records, Garagejams, Asylum, Atlantic, Soulfood and have crossed genres like Garage, 2 Step, and UK Funky. If Dubstep has been a work in progress for the last 10 years then this is where its finally reached its full potential!
